Description
When the Cinzano family arrived in 1973, most of the wine bottled in Montalcino was Brunello – a second denomination, “Vino Rosso dai Vigneti di Brunello”, was used locally to improve the image of wine sold mostly in bulk formats. Count Alberto Marone Cinzano decided that this secondary wine was just the right wine for everyday drinking, and then in 1983, around 10 years after introducing this wine, Rosso di Montalcino became a D.O.C. wine and is now a classic wine made with pure Sangiovese grapes. Deep ruby red in colour, with violet hues, and an intense, fruity and elegant bouquet, with evident hints of ripe red fruits that are perfectly balanced with the scents of oak. The flavour is well structured, warm and full, with soft elegant tannins, and with a long and pleasantly persistent fruity aftertaste.
